MUHYIDDIN Yassin has reiterated Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) stand to not work with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form a unity government.

The PN chairman said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had asked during the audience for PN to work with PH but he rejected it.

“We have discussed this beforehand. We will not work with PH,” he told a press conference today after the royal audience.

He said PN had submitted 115 statutory declarations to support its claim to helm the government and it was accepted by the king’s private secretary.

“That is why we were confident we could form the government. But we were told what we had submitted was insufficient,“ he said.

In the latest development, the palace has summoned all 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmakers to the palace tomorrow for an individual meeting session.

The BN MPs are scheduled to meet the king from 10.30am tomorrow.

In last Saturday’s 15th general election, PH won 76 seats, while its coalition member Sarawak DAP garnered five seats and Muda one, for a total of 82.

PN and PAS won 51 and 22 seats respectively, for a combined total of 73.

BN could only muster 30 seats, with many of the coalition’s leaders becoming casualties.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak claimed 23 seats, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (6), Warisan (3), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (1) and Independents (2). – November 22, 2022.
