MUHYIDDIN Yassin has begun work to form a federal government with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and like-minded parties.
In a Facebook post, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman said he had a meeting with Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg.
“This morning I was visited by Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Abang Openg, Sarawak Premier, and Abdul Hadi Awang, the PAS president, to discuss the formation of the federal government,” he said.
In yesterday’s polls, PN picked up 73 seats while Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) bagged 22 seats. Together, the two major coalitions will attain 95 seats. A total of 112 seats is required to form a simple majority in parliament.
Muhyiddin said discussions were also ongoing with other like-minded parties and independent candidates.
“God willing, the federal government will be formed in soon,” he said in the post. – November 20, 2022.
