PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition had today finalised the allocation of seats to its component parties in Peninsular Malaysia for the 15th general election.
Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said seat distribution was carried out with consensus, mutual respect and tolerance, with the interests of all parties taken into account.
The former prime minister said the election machineries of Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan have been directed to take initiatives to strengthen PN, so as to be ready and face the coming polls.
“In a few days, we will finalise dates for every state under PN to announce the seats to be contested and the names of the candidates for the respective seats,” he told reporters after chairing a PN meeting at the Bersatu headquarters at Yayasan Selangor, Petaling Jaya today.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and PN information chief Mohamed Azmin Ali were also present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said PN has never held any discussions officially with Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) on the possibility of working together in the coming election.
GTA pro-tem chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad was today reported as saying discussions were still ongoing but there were issues that have yet to be resolved.
Dr Mahathir reportedly said he hopes GTA and PN can wrap things up by November 2. – Bernama, October 27, 2022.
