GTA names candidates for 8 seats

THE Dr Mahathir Mohamad-led Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) today announced its first eight candidates who will be contesting in the coming general election.

All eight candidates are from Dr Mahathir’s party, Pejuang, with the former prime minister slated to defend his Langkawi parliamentary seat.

The other are Mukhriz Mahathir (Jerlun), Amiruddin Hamzah (Kubang Pasu), Che Asmah Ibrahim (Sepang), Mior Nor Haidir Suhaimi (Tapah), Harumaini Omar (Hulu Selangor), Mohd Shaid Rosli (Kuala Selangor) and Khairuddin Abu Hassan (Titiwangsa).

Apart from Dr Mahathir, Mukhriz and Amiruddin are incumbents in the seats they are contesting.

All these seats are set to see multi-cornered fights with candidates from Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan contesting as well.

GTA is a Malay movement pact led by Pejuang, which also consists of several small Malay-based parties, individuals and civil societies. – October 27, 2022.
