NO decision has been made as to whether Muda will use Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) logo to contest in the 15th general election, the youth-based party’s information chief Luqman Long said.
He said discussions on several matters, including the use of a common logo, are still ongoing after PH agreed to form an electoral pact with Muda for the coming polls.
“What Muda and the PH committee are doing right now is to finalise a few key details for this electoral pact agreement,” Luqman, who is also the youth-based party’s co-founder, told The Malaysian Insight.
“There are a few clauses, terms and conditions to this particular electoral pact agreement and one of them is obviously with regard to what banner or logo we are going to use for GE15.
“I would leave that to the party’s political bureau to decide.
“We are having a series of meetings on the clauses and terms and conditions, and hopefully, we will try and finalise them soon.”
On Wednesday, PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim said that the coalition will work together with Muda in the upcoming polls as an electoral pact.
Anwar said the council will be discussing details of their cooperation, such as seat allocations and logo.
However, Sinar Daily yesterday reported that Muda will use PH’s logo for GE15.
Luqman said although the people are eager to get the details finalised, he reiterated that no decision pertaining to the logo has been made yet.
“I know everyone in PH and Muda are eager to close the deal as soon as we can and focus on GE15. I understand their enthusiasm.
“But it (logo) has not been finalised yet,” Luqman confirmed.
Muda initially applied to be a component party in the coalition. PH then formed a committee to handle negotiations with the youth-based party.
Anwar said it would be difficult to bring Muda in as PH’s fifth component party as it would need to be approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
The PKR president was doubtful that ROS would approve any of such applications at this juncture. – October 15, 2022.
