PAKATAN Harapan (PH) will work together with Muda in the upcoming general election, coalition chairman Anwar Ibrahim said today.

However, he said the PH presidential council decided that it will be in the form of an electoral pact, instead of accepting Muda as a component party.

He said this is because to be a component of the coalition, it will need the approval of the Registrar of Societies.

“At the moment, cooperation with Muda is an electoral pact as I do not think the Registrar of Societies will approve (any new membership in PH) now,” he told reporters after the PH presidential council meeting in Petaling Jaya.

Anwar said the council will be discussing details of their cooperation, such as seat allocations and logo.

Muda initially applied to be a component party in the coalition. PH then formed a committee to handle negotiations with the youth-based party.

Today’s decision on PH-Muda cooperation comes after resistance from certain factions in the coalition, particularly by the youth wings of its component parties. – October 12, 2022.
