DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) against a blog alleging that tycoon Robert Kuok funded the party.

Lim said a February 25 post on The Third Force blog claimed that he was lying about being paid by Kuok.

“This is a malicious, baseless and savage attack on Kuok. It is the worst example of fake news,” he said at a press conference after lodging the report at MCMC today.

He said the post alleged that he had received funds from Kuok, amounting to RM100 million over four years; that he was a radical evangelist out to create discord among the Chinese and Muslims; and, that he was an anti-Muslim who wanted to establish a Chinese government.

“That is why I have lodged a report with MCMC, so that they can investigate the case under Section 233 of the MCMC Act.”

Section 233 criminalises the use of network facilities or network services by a person to transmit any communication deemed to be obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive in character.

Umno leaders have attacked the Hong-Kong based Kuok, following a series of posts by fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin claiming that the businessman secretly financed DAP.

Tourism Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has called Kuok a “pondan” and a coward, and dared the 94-year-old billionaire to return to Malaysia to contest in the 14th general election, which must be held by August.

Another Umno leader, Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, told Kuok “not to forget his roots”.

It was reported that Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Kuok had “bitten the hand that fed him” and forgotten his roots.

Tengku Adnan also accused Kuok of stirring up racial sentiments.

The tycoon has denied the allegations against him, and is looking into taking legal action against Raja Petra.

Yesterday, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai was reported as saying the cabinet recognised Kuok’s contributions to the nation’s development.

“The cabinet recognises his contributions to the country, and his contributions to the economy, over the years.

“The prime minister, in his statement on Tuesday, also commended Kuok for his contributions,” he said after a cabinet meeting. – March 1, 2018.

  • Don't bother KS Lim. MCMC is Najib institution. Win the GE14 and you shall be heard and then only make the changes.

  • Actually this is their intention to drain your resources (time, money, energy ...) in dealing this type of stupid cases, thus you don't have time to handle the more important GE related program. You will not be the only one. More and more will be targeted soon. This is their strategies. Be caution.
