Xavier Jayakumar, Edmund Santhara join PBM

KUALA Langat MP Xavier Jayakumar and Segamat MP Edmund Santhara Kumar have joined Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), its president-designate Zuraida Kamaruddin said today.

Former PKR vice-president Xavier had left the party in March 2021 after 23 years.

He subsequently threw his support behind the then Perikatan Nasional government.

At the time, he was facing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigations following the arrest of his former special aide M.A. Tinagaran over bribery allegations. 

Edmund he was among the 10 PKR lawmakers who defected from the party following the Sheraton Move in February 2020.

He then joined Bersatu.

With the defection of the duo, the year-old PBM now has six parliamentarians.

The party has applied to join Barisan Nasional but yet to receive any news on the matter. – October 1, 2022.
