MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has called on Prime Minister Najib Razak to help put an end to the attacks on Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok.

“Regarding the needless and baseless attacks on Robert Kuok, I have conveyed the feelings of the Chinese community to YAB PM.

“We hope the prime minister will intervene to put this issue to rest. Mr Kuok has contributed greatly towards development of the nation,” he said in a Twitter post today.

Following Raja Petra Kamaruddin’s accusation in his blog the Hong Kong-based Kuok had been channelling funds to DAP, the 93-year-old billionaire has come under fire from Umno leaders, including Najib.

Umno leader Tajuddin Abdul Rahman told Kuok “not to forget his roots,” while Najib said Kuok could not have made his fortune without the Malaysian government’s help.

The harshest words came from Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who called Kuok a “pondan” (effeminate) and dared him to return to Malaysia to contest in the 14th general election.

MCA religious harmony bureau chairman Ti Lian Ker also hit out at Nazri, saying the attack was not in keeping with Malaysian culture and Kuok was a businessman whose success had benefited Malaysians in general.

Kuok yesterday said he was mulling legal action against Raja Petra and his blog Malaysia Today.

The billionaire’s office said in a statement yesterday the blogger made false allegations in three articles published between February 21 and 23.

Kuok made his fortune importing sugar into Malaysia, parlaying that business into a Hong Kong-based empire that spans commodities and hotels. – February 27, 2018.

  • GE is around the corner, and BN has no interest in winning the votes of the Chinese. What is the use of so much talk on assisting the Indian community and on the other hand foregoing the Chinese? Indians contribute more votes? How stupid!

Raja cleverly started the ball rolling and then sees more and more stupid UMNO members follow suit in pushing the ball to no return.

On the other hand, Pakatan has no racial agenda and has never attack any particular race. Clearly Pakatan gives everybody the impression that it is more inclusive than BN.
