MUDA is ready to meet Pakatan Harapan (PH) and answer questions about its concerns over its plan to join the opposition coalition, deputy president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz said.

“Some say Muda is not sincere in fighting. Whereas some say Muda is grandpa’s party, referring to Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” she said in a Facebook post today.

She said there are also those who say Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is a defector as he dumped Bersatu and this makes him a person who cannot be trusted.

“I hereby want to clarify that all these claims are not only untrue but also are built with a strange imagination,” she said.

However, she said, despite Muda and PH work records, she still understands every criticism and doubts from the opposition coalition, some of whom are friends.

“The Muda leadership and I are ready to hold an official meeting with PH so that we can resolve everything together,” she said.

“Our main goal is to ensure that when going into the election, the people are clear and understand the offer from the opposition.”

The post comes after a Malaysian Insight report where PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the party’s youth members are not keen on working with Muda under the PH banner for the next general election.

He said Muda’s actions during the Johor polls are still in the memories of PKR members.

“That is what complicates the decision. So in terms of that, there has been some good and bad experience working with Muda.

“But time must be given for the grassroots and other parties (in PH) to make a decision because when it comes to GE15, we want to work on the grassroots,” he said, referring to the next general election.

Muda contested in seven seats in Johor state elections and in Larkin, it went against PKR, which was confident of winning the seat. However, Umno’s Mohd Hairi Mad Shah emerged victorious.

Earlier this week, Syed Saddiq said the party was keen to join PH.

He said he and fellow leaders had been in informal discussions with their contemporaries in the opposition coalition.

“Initial talks about Muda joining PH have taken place and our party is also open to holding official talks with its presidential council,” he said. – September 11, 2022.
