BARELY a year after leaving Warisan to join Bersatu, Lahad Datu MP Mohammadin Ketapi is once again switching loyalties – this time to go over to newly established Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).

The former tourism minister said this is because he likes the direction in which PBM is headed.

“I chose them after examining the party constitution which aims to fight for the rights and autonomy of Borneo under the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.

“With the current political situation in the country, I believe that cooperation between Sabah and Sarawak will ensure unity of the people,” he said in a statement today.

Four members of parliament have joined PBM since its inception this year.

The three others are Larry Sng (Julau), Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang) and Steven Choong (Tebrau).

Mohammadin said PBM has a good selection of MPs with a track record for being corruption-free and for taking care of the people.

He said he is confident Sabah voters will help PBM realise its goals.

In 2018, Mohammadin won his seat on a Parti Warisan Sabah ticket but left the party for Bersatu last October.

On June 28, Mohammadin announced he was leaving Bersatu after seven months with the coalition.

Last wek PBM president-designate Zuraida Kamaruddin said the party is adopting a wait-and-see approach about joining Barisan Nasional.

“We are keeping pace with what is going on,” she said, alluding to the corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering trials of key Umno leaders and their cronies.

“Of course, we are looking at what would be in the best interest of the party.

“Hopefully by God’s grace, we’ll stick to our original plans.

“(You never) know. Today you stand, tomorrow you sit down,” was what she told reporters in Kuching when asked if PBM was concerned about being caught in a backlash against Umno.

This was after former Umno president Najib Razak was sent to jail by the Federal Court for embezzling RM42 million of SRC International’s money. – August 27, 2022.
