PARTI Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) is adopting a wait-and-see approach about joining Barisan Nasional, party president-designate Zuraida Kamaruddin said today.
“We are keeping pace with what is going on,” she said alluding to the corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering trials of key Umno leaders and their cronies.
“Of course, we are looking at what would be in the best interest of the party.
“Hopefully by God’s grace, we’ll stick to our original plans.
“(You never) know. Today you stand, tomorrow you sit down,” was what she told reporters in Kuching when asked if PBM was concerned with being caught in a possible Umno backlash.
Last Tuesday, former Umno president Najib Razak started his 12-year jail sentence when he lost his final appeal for embezzling RM42 million of SRC International funds.
His successor and current Umno president, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, is on trial for corruption. The widening littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal could drag Zahid and other Umno leaders – past and present – into another corruption quagmire.
PBM, formerly known as Sarawak Workers’ Party, has applied to join BN but has yet to be accepted.
BN sais the coalition needed more time to study their application. – August 25, 2022.
