UMNO leaders today refuted allegations that its members are causing internal chaos in opposition party Bersatu.

Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin denied it while the party’s secretary-general, Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, said the internal issues in Bersatu were their own problems.

“Not only do we deny it, but there is no such thing.

“I can guarantee you that it’s not the work of Umno members,” Khairy told reporters after attending the launch of Barisan Nasional Youth’s Briged Gempur in Kuala Lumpur.

Bersatu leaders have accused Umno members of infiltrating the party to cause chaos and destabilise the party ahead of the 14th general election (GE14).

Bersatu Information chief Kamarudin Mohd Nor said there were attempts to stop the party from contesting in GE14.

His remarks came following a recent protest by both Bersatu members and former members in front of the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

On Thursday, about 1,000 people who claimed they were Bersatu members held a rally demanding that the RoS act against the party’s leaders.

Among those who attended the protest included former senior Bersatu leaders who said the party’s bosses had violated its own constitution.

Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir had also claimed that the protest was driven by dedak (bribes) from Umno.

Tengku Adnan said Umno does not interfere in matters related to other parties.

“It’s their problem, not ours. They are the ones who do not know how to take care of their party, they should address the problem themselves,” Tengku Adnan said. – February 24, 2018.

  • In other countries, only the well off stand for elections (because of high campaign expenditures and are already financially independent and truly wanted to serve the country), but .... in Malaysia ... many enter politics to become rich and amass wealth (through illegal side incomes , , etc). Maybe these Bersatu traitors are losers from UMNO hoping for better chances under a new party. However when they found out they were not selected for GE14, they see promises of immense wealth disappearing before their very eyes. So when given incentives (eg. money) to create chaos, they will do so (something is better than nothing).

  • Nothing for Bersatu to complain about . It is a given fact that such saboteurs will be available in any political. party. Bersatu cannot be that gullible. It is a norm in the political land scape. Go and flush them out or provide some reasons for them to be exposed. Work hard to win GE14 . Umno is on the path to be demise. Nothing can save them anymore. No amount of gerrymeandering or coalescing the rakyat with false promises is going anywhere. At this juncture the speeches and comments by UmnoBN PM and his Minister are viewed with impuissance and will only manifest disgust and hatred from the Rakyat.
