MOHD Zuki Ali has been reappointed as chief secretary to the government on a contract basis for two years, effective today, announced the Prime Minister’s Office.

The re-appointment of Zuki as chief secretary was consented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on the recommendation of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob through the Public Service Commission.

“The reappointment of Zuki is in the national interest because his service as the chief secretary to the government is still needed,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

Zuki, 60, with extensive experience in public service, was appointed to the post since December 31, 2019.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Nanyang University, Singapore and has served in the Finance Ministry, Education Ministry, Rural and Regional Development Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry and Natural Resources and Environment Ministry.

He has also served at Istana Negara and the Prime Minister’s Department and has held positions as the Sarawak Federal Secretary and Secretary-General of the Defence Ministry. – Bernama, August 11, 2022.

  • Fait accompli. His potential replacement has been blocked.
Malaysian civil service must be very short of people who can perform the good job that he has been doing for the gomen,

  • So this is the reason for the immigration fiasco at KLIA. The fiasco involving the DG Shafiq Abdullah was played out so that his chance of being the KSN would be buried. This Zuki fella now could continue being the KSN. I guess this is what Ismail Sabri wanted, a yes and not one who would question his decisions.

  • Time for new blood. With all what is happening in the country, to continue with existing blood means no changes for a better for our children and grandchildren.
