MASS Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) has extended the tenure of its CEO, Mohd Zarif Hashim, by three months as the company is still on the lookout for his replacement, The Vibes reported.
Zarif’s contract was supposed to end on July 14.
“There has been an extension to his contract. He will serve until October, as his successor is being identified,” the news portal reported, quoting sources.
Zarif also confirmed to the portal that he is still in office, but did not comment on whether the extension of his contract was temporary.
Zarif replaced Abdul Yazid Kassim as MRT Corp CEO on July 15, 2020. He was previously the chief operations officer of Sapura Group.
Most recently, MRT Corp drew flak for inviting former prime minister Najib Razak to preview the first phase of the Putrajaya MRT line.
Reports said this blunder is one of the reasons used by certain parties to push Zarif out. – July 30, 2022.
