THE former chief executive officer of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), Azhar Abdul Hamid will make a return to the company as its new chairman.
MRT Corp said in a statement today that Azhar’s appointment comes into effect on May 11.
Azhar had previously served as the firm’s first CEO from 2011 to 2014.
MRT Corp CEO Mohd Zarif Hashim said that Azhar brings with him vast industry experience that will help steer the company into the future.
“As the founding CEO of MRT Corp, Azhar’s experience and knowledge will be invaluable as the organisation moves forward to develop the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link Project and the exciting MRT 3 Circle Line project, while at the same time, to complete the MRT Putrajaya Line,” Zarif said.
Prior to this appointment, Azhar was the chairman of FGV Holdings Sdn Bhd from 2017 to April 2021.
He has held various positions including being the chairman of MSM Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd, group managing director of Malakoff Corporation, and president/group managing director and chairman of Tradewinds Corporation Berhad.
Azhar has also served in various capacities in the Sime Darby Group. – May 27, 2021.
