KEDAH DAP has urged police to investigate Facebook user “Ustazah Hamidah” for posting a fake photo of Muslim Pakatan Harapan leaders eating at a table where pork is served.

The photo shows state PH chief Mukhriz Mahathir and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu eating at a table where a roast suckling pig could be seen.

The Facebook user posted the photo on Tuesday, captioned: “Nak undi Cina punya pasal sehingga sanggup makan babi. #Undi Pas.” (Because they want Chinese votes, they would even eat pork. #Vote PAS.)

State DAP secretary Beh Poh Kheng, who lodged a police report over the photo earlier today, said the allegation was ridiculous, and it was obvious that the suckling pig had been Photoshopped into the image.

“I saw the post last night. It is a fake photo, showing the two leaders eating at last Sunday’s Kedah PH Chinese New Year open house in Alor Star.

“The event was widely covered by the media. If pork had been served, there would have been an immediate outcry.

“Newspaper headlines the next day would have been all about it.”

Beh said of all people, he should know best about the goings on at the open house as he was the programme’s director.

He said he had the original photo of the two leaders tucking into their meal – and in it, there are no pork dishes to be seen.

“I urge police to investigate this Facebook user under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act, or whatever law relevant to this case.

“This person should be hauled up for spreading slander. I hope the authorities can shut down this person’s social media account to stop this kind of slander.”

He said by the time he saw the post, it had garnered more than 20,000 comments, 5,579 “shares” and 7,661 “likes”.

A check at 3pm today showed that the doctored photo is still on the “Ustazah Hamidah” Facebook page, which features many anti-PH posts and remarks ridiculing the opposition pact’s leaders. – February 22, 2018.

  • Sounds like some leaders started to feel scared and spreading fake news and photos. They are scared now as Muslims can sit in the same table pork is served.
