25,000kg of frozen pork seized in Klang

THE Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis) detained a container containing frozen pork from Spain at the Northport in Klang, Selangor, on Sunday.

The product, worth RM282,000 in total and weighed 25,000kg, was seized during a routine inspection.

“It was found that the consignment did not comply with the conditions of the import permit issued by Maqis,” said the department in a statement today.

“Those who fail to comply with the conditions can be charged under section 15(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011, punishable under section 15(2) of the same Act, which provides for a jail term up to six years or fine up to RM100,000, or both, upon conviction.” – Bernama, June 14, 2022.
