TOP Glove Bhd said its engineers mistakenly replaced a Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) water meter with the company’s digitalised water meter on April 11, 2019.
However, it added that it immediately acted upon being alerted on the matter by reinstalling the Syabas water meter on May 28, 2019.
“The company has fully paid the sum of about RM56,000, of which RM52,000 is for water usage for an estimated 47 days based on Syabas calculations,” it said in reply to a statement issued by the National Water Services Commission earlier today.
Top Glove said some of its factories have successfully installed digitalised water meters to monitor water usage in real-time, with the intention of automating and digitising its recording system.
“The company wishes to clarify that its actions are part of its digitalisation initiatives, and that the matter has been resolved.” – Bernama, May 30, 2022.
