TOP Glove Malaysia has been allowed to resume exports to the United States after the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) modified its findings on the glove-making giant’s alleged use of forced labour.

The company said in a statement today that its disposable gloves will be allowed into the US effective September 10.

The CBP, in a notice on its website, said it had, based on additional data, found that Top Glove’s merchandise is no longer in violation of its laws.

The initial finding in March this year stated that disposal gloves made by the company had used convict, forced or indentured labour that were likely being imported into the US.

This finding followed a July 15, 2020 “withhold release order” on Top Glove’s exports to the US.

Since that time, CBP said, Top Glove has provided additional information to the agency which was “satisfactory evidence” to amend the finding on forced labour use. – September 10, 2021.
