PRIME Minister Najib Razak said he hoped the joy in celebrating Chinese New Year this year would bring luck to Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election.
“I see the situation today, this year is cheerful probably because the people are happy with the economic growth of 5.9% last year. The shares, too, have gone up; the ringgit is also stronger. The confidence in the country’s future is significant,” Najib said at MCA’s Chinese New Year celebration at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur today.
“So, I feel the Chinese New Year celebration this year is joyous and most cheerful. We pray that, hopefully, the lunar new year brings a very encouraging result to the government.”
With him at the event were his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Najib, Rosmah and Zahid were greeted at Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, by MCA’s top leadership, led by its president, Liow Tiong Lai, to the accompaniment of a lion dance performance.
Najib, Rosmah and Zahid spent almost half an hour at the event, which was also attended by top Barisan Nasional leaders such as Gerakan’s Mah Siew Keong, MIC president Dr S.Subramaniam and myPPP president M.Kayveas. — Bernama, February 16, 2018.
