MALAYSIA’S gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 5.9% last year proved that its economy is on the right track, Prime Minister Najib Razak said.
Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said this was achieved through intensive planning and strong national economic policy.
“Alhamdulillah, through intensive planning and strong economic policy, Malaysia’s economy expanded 5.9% in the fourth quarter of 2017.
“This makes the overall growth for 2017 also 5.9%, compared with 4.2% in 2016. We’re on the right track!” he said on Twitter at @NajibRazak today.
Bank Negara Malaysia recently announced that the country’s GDP grew 5.9% in 2017, with the private sector demand continuing to be the main driver of growth. – Bernama, February 14, 2018.

How come we the common people do not feel it?...semua harga barang naik...what increases is the budget for daily household spending....purchasing power has shrunk by 30 to 40 percent....harga beras pon naik ma......not to mention other daily essentials.
Congratulation to the kleptokrat government for achieving such high growth...I am not an economist....but I have to look after my household economy to survive....and right now it is always cutting down to have a balance budget. We can't afford deficit budget...jangan gantung diri dengan beban hutang.
Unlike the clever kleptokrat...they can always hutang "guaranteed" by the government....which in the end the people has to bayar the hutang thru all sort of cukai.
I really like to have a stable economy...whereby I can budget my household for at least a month without much fluctuations as it is now. Harga minyak pon turun naik weekly!...harga sayur, ikan...pagi lain petang lain...aiyaa!
