MALAYSIA reported 15,215 coronavirus infections yesterday, the first time figures had gone up in four days.
The new infections took the total Covid-19 cases in the country to 4,167,418.
The number of Covid-19 deaths increased for the third straight day, to 64. Fourteen of them were pronounced dead on arrival (DOA).
The Health Ministry has clarified that daily reported deaths do not take place in a single day but within the last 72 hours.
The death toll stood at 34,906, of which 7,362 were DOA.
In the Klang Valley, Selangor reported 6,985 new infections, Kuala Lumpur (1,434) and Putrajaya (63), accounting for 56% of the daily cases.
Other states and territories reporting new cases were Negri Sembilan (974), Sarawak (828), Johor (751), Kedah (734), Perak (701), Penang (679), Pahang (554), Terengganu (403), Kelantan (362), Malacca (350), Sabah (251), Labuan (80) and Perlis (66).
Perak reported the most deaths among the states and territories with 20, two of which were DOA.
Other states reporting deaths were Kedah (8), Selangor (7), Penang (6), Johor (5), Negri Sembilan and Sarawak (4 each), Kelantan (3), Malacca, Pahang and Sabah (2 each), and Terengganu (1).
All three deaths in Kelantan were DOA.
Johor, Kedah and Kelantan reported two DOA cases while Negri Sembilan, Penang and Sabah reported one each.
The fatality rate stood at 0.3% and the cumulative fatality rate, at 0.8%. β March 30, 2022.
