34.1% of children in Malaysia given Covid vaccine

A TOTAL of 1.2 million children aged five to 11, or 34.1% of the child population in the country have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children as of yesterday.

According to the CovidNow website, for adolescents aged 12 to 17, a total of 2.8 million individuals or 91.3% of the population have completed the Covid-19 vaccination, while 2.9 million individuals or 94.5% of the group have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

For the adult population, a total of 15.4 million individuals or 65.4% of the group have received the Covid-19 booster dose. A total of 22.9 million individuals or 97.5% of the group have been fully vaccinated while 23.2 million or 98.7% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Yesterday, a total of 47,773 vaccine doses were administered, with 12,788 as first doses, 1,927 second doses and 33,058 booster doses.

This brings the cumulative vaccine doses dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 68.3 million. – Bernama, March 17, 2022.
