More than 33% of kids aged 5-11 receive first Covid jab


The Health Ministry says more than 1.18 million children aged five to 11 have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 15, 2022.

MORE than 1.18 million children aged five to 11 or 33.2% of the group have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children.

Based on the Health Ministry’s website, CovidNow, more than 2.83 million individuals in the teenage population aged 12 to 17, or 91.2%, have completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of yesterday.

More than 2.93 million people or 94.4% from this group have received at least one dose of a vaccine.

For the adult population, more than 15.3 million people, or 65.1%, have received their Covid-19 booster dose while more than 22.9 million people, or 97.5%, have completed their vaccination and more than 23.2 million individuals, or 98.7%, have received at least one dose of a vaccine. 

Yesterday, 51,798 vaccine doses were administered – 14,496 first dose, 2,055 second dose and 35,247 booster dose – bringing the cumulative vaccine doses under National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 68,214,783. – Bernama, March 15, 2022.
