PAKATAN Harapan (PH) must correct its weaknesses and show a united approach to face Barisan Nasional (BN), Lim Guan Eng said today.
The DAP secretary-general said his party also accepted the verdict of the Johor people in allowing BN to win big in the state polls yesterday.
“DAP and PH must correct our weaknesses, especially in communicating to the public a united opposition to BN under PH’s ‘Big Tent’ approach.
“DAP wishes to thank voters who have supported our 14 candidates, including in the four seats we lost,” the Bagan MP said in reference to the party’s performance in the Johor polls.
PH went into these elections with its main partner PKR deciding to contest using its own logo, while Amanah and DAP stood under the PH banner.
DAP won 10 seats while Amanah and PKR each won only one. PH ally, Muda, also scored a single seat.
BN, meanwhile, bagged 40 seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN), three.
“For those 10 seats DAP has won, we will ensure that our elected representatives serve the people to the best of their ability,” said Lim.
He also said DAP was committed to looking after, helping and defending the rights of all Malaysians regardless of race and religion under the Malaysian First concept.
“We will also continue rejecting taxes of foreign sourced income and opposing the excessive increase in compound fines for Covid-19 SOP violations,” he said. – March 13, 2022.
