Pahang closes last flood relief shelter

PAHANG closed its last relief centre at SK Temai in Pekan at 10pm today.

The state disaster management committee secretariat said that when the first wave of floods began on December 17 last year, 67,333 evacuees took refuge in 432 centres across nine districts.

The second wave of floods on December 31, which began in the Raub district, displaced a further 3,293 people.

The secretariat also said that 21 deaths were reported during the first wave of floods, 11 of which were in Bentong, followed by Temerloh (four), Kuantan (three), Raub (two) and Pekan (one). – Bernama, January 11, 2022.
