NOH Omar has come out to say he is still the Selangor National Security Council (NSC) chairman, after Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said he was the new head of the state unit.
The entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister said he wanted set clear the situation with the NSC and his position in it.
He said the council had two committees and the Selangor menteri besar had taken over one chaired by the state secretary.
“The other council is tasked with disaster management, and chaired by the state secretary.
“I am still the Selangor NSC chairman. Amirudin merely took over the duties of the state secretary.
“Even so, the MB does not understand. That’s why flood management at the state level was chaotic. So, I will say this to the Selangor MB – don’t blame others, and don’t blame me,” he told a media conference today.
Noh’s remarks come after Amirudin said yesterday he had resumed the duties of state NSC chief. He also said the state’s response to the flood was slow as he did not chair the committee.
Noh said he had responded accordingly to the flood as he had received calls on Saturday from friends and family trapped by the deluge.
He said he had been visiting temporary relief centres, but was dismayed by what was provided for victims as some did not have basic needs like food and blankets. – December 22, 2021.
