Bersatu takes note of PAS-Umno cooperation in Malacca polls

Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin says his party has taken note of Umno’s decision to continue its understanding with PAS in the upcoming Malacca elections. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 30, 2021.

BERSATU secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said the party has taken note of Umno’s decision to continue its understanding with PAS in the upcoming Malacca polls.

He also said he understands the meaning behind Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan’s silence on Bersatu during the latter’s press conference on Thursday.

“From what I had read, the Umno secretary-general did not mention my party’s name, Bersatu. For us, the laymen, what does that mean? It means that he (Umno) does not want to cooperate with Bersatu.

“What I do not understand is what is implied. I really do not understand what he is implying. I only know what is explicit,” the home affairs minister told reporters in Malacca today.

Ahmad had said the party’s stand is in line with its general assembly resolutions, which, among others, is to strengthen Muafakat Nasional (a pact formed by Umno and PAS). – Bernama, October 30, 2021.
