The Kelantan government is waiting for an official report from the state forestry department (JPNK) over the issue of farm operators found encroaching on land at the Ulu Galas forest reserve near Kampung Pulai in Gua Musang.

Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said that from information received earlier, there was evidence of intrusion.

Enforcement steps have been taken, he added.

“It is an offence to carry out activities especially farming in forest reserves. Only those holding permits are allowed to enter,” he told reporters after an exco meeting at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim in Kota Baru today.

On October 14, it was reported that over 30 farmers who had been planting Musang King durian and rubber trees in a 90-hectare area in Kg Pulai for the past 25 years were instructed to vacate the area within 14 days.

Meanwhile, JPNK director Abdul Khalim Abu Samah said that further action would be taken after a fair solution was found for all parties, including the farmers involved. – Bernama, October 20, 2021.
