MALAYSIA has fully vaccinated 75.4% of its adult population under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme, the Health Ministry said today on the CovidNow website.
That is equivalent to 17.65 million people, it is stated on the site.
It said 92.5% of adults have received one jab and 7.5% are unvaccinated.
It reported that 243,971 people received a shot yesterday, 71,658 of which were first doses and 172,313, second doses.
In the Klang Valley, 103.9% (6.4 million) of adults are fully inoculated. Sabah remains the state with the lowest vaccinate rate at 51.9% (1,431,093) of its adult population
More than 39 million doses of have been administered since the vaccines were rolled out on February 24.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the government expected 80% of the adult population to be vaccinated by the end of October, by which time Covid-19 would be endemic in the country.
The CovidNow trackers projects that 80% of adults will be fully vaccinated by September 21, and 80% of the general population by November 28.
A hundred per cent vaccination rate for adults is achievable by October 31, the tracker shows. – September 15, 2021.
