6,887 fully vaccinated people contract Covid-19

THE Health Ministry recorded 6,887 new Covid-19 infections among the fully vaccinated today, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said. 

The director-general of health said fully vaccinated patients in categories three (pneumonia), four (pneumonia and requires oxygen support) and five (critical stage) make up 82 of the cases recorded today. 

The other 6,795 are in the asymptomatic category one and mildly symptomatic category two. 

Noor Hisham, however, said 13,519 (66.3%) of the 20,396 new cases today were unvaccinated or have received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. 

Of the total, there were 8,696 unvaccinated people in categories one and two, and 165 in categories three to five. 

For those who have received one dose, there were 4,583 in categories one and two, and 75 in categories three to five. 

The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access said 134,559 people received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine yesterday while 165,942 others got their shots.

To date, 20,401,824 people, or 87.2% of the country’s adult population, have received their first shot. – September 5, 2021.
