PUTRAJAYA’S decision to appoint former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin as the chairman of the recovery council is disappointing, said Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“Muhyiddin’s appointment has added another layer of bureaucracy that makes no sense as he still needs to table his suggestions to the cabinet first. Is Ismail Sabri Yaakob not confident in his ministers?” asked the Kulim Bandar Bharu lawmaker in a statement today.

The Pagoh lawmaker’s new position comes with ministerial status.

Saifuddin said that while Muhyiddin was prime minister, he failed to steer the country out of the Covid-19 epidemic which has led to the people’s suffering and the economy performing poorly.

He also questioned what type of ideas Muhyiddin could possibly contribute, given that the policies implemented when he was the prime minister had clearly failed.

“Can he make decisions objectively or will he want to defend his legacy?” Saifuddin questioned.

He added that Muhyiddin’s appointment is for Ismail Sabri’s political survival at the cost of the people.

Earlier today, chief secretary Mohd Zuki Ali announced that Muhyiddin has been appointed chairman of the National Recovery Council with ministerial status.

The decision was made at a cabinet meeting on September 1 and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has been informed of the appointment. – September 4, 2021.

  • Disappointing is an understatement! It is nothing but a political play. The Rakyats welfare and well being seem to be of no interest to this bunch of PN politicians.

  • Shameless! The failed leader who lost his support as leader wants to lead the recovery from a crisis he presided over and the new leader fails to stop him! Bodoh Bodoh Bodoh!
