ABOUT 13.02 million people, or 55.6% of the adult population in Malaysia, are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19 after receiving two doses of the vaccine, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said today.

Putrajaya has achieved ahead of time its target of immunising half of the country’s adult population by Merdeka Day.

Meanwhile, 18.25 million people, or 78% of the adult population, have received one shot of the vaccine.

JKJAV said 441,100 doses were administered yesterday, of which 303,545 were second doses while 137,555 were first jabs.

Labuan had the highest rate of full vaccination with 90.6% of its adult population or 62,073 people having received two doses.

The Klang Valley saw the highest number of doses dispensed with 6.66 million first jabs and 5.16 million second shots.

In total, 31.28 million shots have been administered since the vaccination drive began on February 24.

Restrictions have been eased for fully vaccinated people in states in phase 1 of the national recovery plan.

Those in phase 2 states and above can dine out, travel inter-district and take local tours. – August 23, 2021.
