More than half of adults fully dosed against Covid-19


AS many as 50.2% of the adult population in Malaysia are fully inoculated with two doses of the Covid vaccine doses of yesterday, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said today.

The committee said 75.3% of the adult population have received a first dose.

Yesterday, healthcare workers administered 531,114 jabs, of which 342,640 were second doses and 188,474, first doses.

The Klang Valley dispensed the most vaccines with 178,264 doses, with Selangor accounting for 109,035 of the doses and Kuala Lumpur, 69,229 doses.

This adds up to 4.5 million, or 54%, of the population fully vaccinated in the Klang Valley,, while 6.5 million or 77.8% have received a first dose.

In total, the country has administered over 29.36 million Covid-19 doses, with this figure, a total of 17.6 million of the population or 54% have received one dose and 11.7 million or 36% have completed their vaccination with two doses.

Labuan has the highest rate of full vaccination with 90% of its adult population, or 61,472 people, having received two doses.

Putrajaya aims to vaccinate half of the country’s adult population by Merdeka Day.

Meanwhile, restrictions have been eased for fully vaccinated people in states in phase 2 and above of the national recovery plan.

Those who have had two shots of the vaccine in those states may now dine out, travel inter-district, take local tours, and take part in selected sports. – August 19, 2021.
