PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has said the Islamist party will not accept DAP into the government.

“PAS firmly disagrees if DAP becomes part of the government,” he was quoted as saying in a report by news portal Malaysiakini.

Tuan Ibrahim was commenting on the party’s position on Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin seeking cooperation with the opposition, including DAP, with which it has strained relations.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin outlined an offer to opposition MPs to get bipartisan support to stay in power and steer the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said he would not resign but that his cabinet had agreed that negotiations will be held with leaders of parties “outside Perikatan Nasional (PN)” ahead of a confidence vote in Parliament next month.

As for the offers made by Muhyiddin, Tuan Ibrahim said his party saw it as a way for the government to continue dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The offer is for all parties… it is a way out for us in facing the challenges posed by Covid-19 and the vaccination programme.

“The government’s priority is to resolve the vaccination and save a challenging situation where many people are affected,” he added. – August 14, 2021.

  • Really, does PAS have any say in this? Did PM mention the exclusion of any party when he extended the olive branch?

  • The electorate voted for more DAP reps than for PAS and you have the arrogance to say you wont be in government with them. DAP doesnt need racist and intolerant colleagues so dont worry they wont ask you.
