PRIME Minister Najib Razak today confirmed that the forensic audit on and police investigations into land worth RM200 million belonging to the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, will proceed, even though the agency has reclaimed ownership of it.
“Alhamdulillah, Felda’s land in Jalan Semarak has been returned without any cost. Nevertheless, I wish to state that the forensic audit and police investigations will continue,” he tweeted.
Yesterday, Felda chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad confirmed that it had reclaimed ownership of the land from Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB) at no cost.
The ownership recovery of all 16 plots was obtained through a memorandum of understanding signed between Felda and SPSB at Felda’s headquarters.
On December 21 last year, it was reported that Felda was at risk of losing the rights to the strategically located land as a result of allegedly dubious sale and purchase transactions made in December 2015 and November 2016.
The land transfer is believed to have occurred when Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014, and gave the firm full power of attorney to develop the land. – Bernama, January 16, 2018.
