MORE than half of the 17 Covid-19 clusters reported today were linked to workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The health director-general said that there were nine workplace clusters on the list today.
These were:
1. Industri Rawang Bestari in Gombak and Hulu Selangor – 57 cases
2. Industri Kampung Sungai Bakau in Gombak, Selangor – 134 cases
3. Jade construction site in Hulu Langat, Selangor – 42 cases
4. Industri Jalan Sg Tua in Hulu Selangor – 122 cases
5. Jalan Kuching construction site in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur – 99 cases
6. Jalan Resident Dua in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur – 9 cases
7. Jalan Kiara Lima construction site in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur – 28 cases
8. Jalan Belfield construction sit in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur – 20 cases
9. Pekeliling Tanjung 27 in Kulai, Johor – 35 cases
The clusters were detected in factories and construction sites amongst others.
Meanwhile, there were six community clusters on the list today, along with one detention centre cluster and another linked to a high-risk group.
The six community clusters were Murni Sepang in Sepang, Selangor (100 cases), Linau Kumpang in Kota Belud, Sabah (29 cases), Kuarters Bata Durok in Keningau, Sabah (12 cases), Kg Gong Depu in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan (11 cases), Kgg Melor Lama in Kota Baru, Kelantan (15 cases) and Jalan 12 Kampar, Perak (9 cases).
Of these, the Kg Gong Depu and Linau Kumpang clusters were linked to visits while Jalan 12 Kampar stemmed from a funeral.
Completing the community transmission list today were the Tembok Kota Kinabalu detention centre cluster in Sabah and Jalan Stampin cluster in Sarawak which involved a high-risk group; in this case the residents of an old folks’ home.
Tembok Kota Kinabalu reported 34 cases while Jalan Stampin saw 19 cases.
Noor Hisham said there are currently 874 active clusters in the country. – June 27, 2021.
