A RECORD 250,529 Covid vaccine doses were dispensed yesterday under the national immunisation programme.

The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said 190,244 were the first dose and 60,285, the second dose.

As of 11.59pm yesterday, 6.3 million doses have been administered.

Meanwhile, 1.72 million people, or 5.3% of the population have been fully inoculated with two doses  schedule while 4.57 million people, or 14% of the population have received one dose.

Kuala Lumpur has logged the most vaccination progress with 792,013, or 44.7% of its residents having received their first dose and 151,632, or 8.5% fully immunised.

The capital has also seen a 100% registration rate for the shots.

It is the government’s aim to immunise 10% of the population against Covid-19 by mid-July.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said 30 of every 100 doses administered are the second and final dose.

“So to immunise 10% of the population or 3.2 million people, we need to administer roughly 10.7 million doses.

“We are aiming to administer 8 million doses in June and hopefully we will reach 10.7 million by mid-July.” – June 23, 2021.
