PRASARANA Malaysia Bhd chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman must resign or face termination over the LRT trains collision yesterday, which has left scores injured, said the Public Transport Users Association (4PAM).

4PAM chairman Ajit Johl said in a statement the chairman, a senior Umno politician, must step down with immediate effect.

He also said that Prasarana must give an assurance that treatment for the injured passengers be given the highest priority and all passengers to be adequately compensated.

Ajit said the accident was an extremely serious issue as 4PAM has been consistently voicing passenger safety and security for the past seven years.

“We are also thankful there were no fatalities in the accident, and Prasarana needs to improve the safety to ensure this accident never happens again.”

He also said that they have been requesting the government to create a Public Transport Tribunal to ensure the safety and security of public transport passengers.

This, he said, was to ensure passengers are always protected.

“4PAM appeals to the prime minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) to ensure users will be represented and create the Public Transport Tribunal to investigate this accident.

“We also thank the PM for ensuring and demanding full transparency of the LRT accident.”

Earlier today, Tajuddin visited the site of the collision and the KLCC station.

He also announced a special assistance of RM1,000 to 213 victims involved in the accident, adding that train services will resume as per normal.

He said that Prasarana would ensure strict compliance of standard operating procedure.

Yesterday, two LRT trains collided on the underground stretch of the line between the KLCC and Kg Baru stations, resulting in minor injuries to 166 passengers and 47 with serious injuries.

Those who were slightly injured were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital and several hospitals nearby.

The accident happened at 8.45pm in the tunnel between the Kg Baru and KLCC stations. One of the trains, being test-driven, only carried a driver.

Earlier today, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said six passengers involved in head-on collision are in critical condition, while three victims have been intubated.

Fifteen others are in a semi-critical state and 43 more suffered light injuries, Annuar said. – May 25, 2021.

  • Dream on.. Umno never known to take responsibility from their screw up and corruption. I don't expect the Chairman to resign. He probably will justify more money for improvement project and most likely will go to you know who pocket

  • In Malaysia unlike other parts of the world when did we see a minister or head of the entity resign when fiasco happens even bringing them to court they still put up a stone face of not guilty as their no sense of honour and accountability, classic example Cowgate and current najis's case which making an appeal to the higher courts of appeal. Never happens here in Msia, never
