Mutton briyani, butter chicken raise the roar in Three Tigers

A WELL-COOKED flavoursome dum briyani is always hard to resist for me. So, I plumped for the mutton briyani special set in the menu of Three Tigers, an online food delivery service that I chanced upon recently. I also chose butter chicken that comes with rice, raita and vegetable of the day.

The mutton briyani set (RM48) was for two, and with it were onion raita, pappadam and two iced lemon tea. It was one of the best mutton briyani I have had. The rice was well-infused with the flavours of spiced marinade. Small chunks of tender mutton (with bone) were in the rice, which was moist with the marinade.

Altogether it was delicious. A family member who shared the briyani with me was delighted to uncover marrow in the mutton bone. The iced lemon tea was surprisingly good too, with enough tea and lemon, and reduced sugar.

The prawn briyani special set is worth considering too, perhaps on my next order.

The butter chicken rice set (RM13) was a good choice too. The butter chicken had balanced flavours, not overly rich or sweet as it usually is. I wish, though, I could order just the butter chicken. A tasty spinach cooked with dhal was the vegetable for the set.

It’s somewhat risky ordering takeaway dhosai but masala dhosai (RM10) seems to stand up to being wrapped up and delivered. The dhosai is thinly filled with masala potato, and three dips come with it – sambar, green chilli chutney and tomato chutney. Any sogginess in the dhosai can be countered by popping it into an oven toaster for a couple of minutes.

Three Tigers also has nasi lemak ayam rendang (RM13) and nasi lemak sambal sotong (RM14) on its menu. It comes with fried egg, sambal, ikan bilis and peanuts. The chicken rendang tastes good, creamy and scented with turmeric leaves.

There are vegetarian options on the menu, such as vegetarian briyani (RM11) and butter tofu (RM11), besides the dhosai. All meals are pork-free.

You can order the food through WhatsApp 010-211 2134, a day before. The food will be delivered between 12pm and 1pm (lunch) and 6pm and 7pm (dinner). For catering options, go to [email protected].

From now till May 31, there is a 15% Raya discount on the meals. You can view its menu here. There is a guide for delivery fees too on its menu.

Three Tigers was founded by three school friends who enjoy good food. They felt the need for quality, affordable and convenient meals especially during these times, and started an online food delivery business. It now covers Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Klang and Kuala Lumpur. The cloud sourced food provider hopes to expand its menu with more licensed commercial kitchens joining them. – May 15, 2021.
