AS the PAS central committee meets on Thursday to decide the fate of their three Selangor executive councillors (exco), their PKR counterparts will hold their own meeting tomorrow night.
“President (Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) is now in Sabah. Deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali informed me last night about the meeting,” PKR general secretary Saifuddin Nasution today.
“He also told me the details of his meeting with the PAS Selangor commissioner and the three PAS excos last Friday.
“As such we will discuss this issue at the political bureau tomorrow,” he added.
The former Machang MP, however, did not want to reveal more about the issue and said the matter should be left to Azmin.
The Selangor government have been at odds ever since PAS Shura Council ratified the party’s decision to end ties with PKR last week.
While Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu have called on the excos to quit the state government, the three have pushed the decision back to the party.
On Sunday, PAS Selangor commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi said the PAS excos will continue to stay in the state government to fulfill the people’s wishes and be a check and balance against DAP.
But Dr Mahathir suggested last night that the PAS excos did not want to quit because they had gotten accustomed to state funds.
On Saturday, a local paper said that Azmin had told the three PAS excos – Iskandar Samad, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib – to quit his cabinet. Iskandar has denied the report.
Meanwhile, Saifuddin said PKR will hold its annual congress in Shah Alam from May 21-22. The 12th annual congress will be attended by 2,167 delegates and 2,000 observers. – May 15, 2017.
