Sitiawan village to go under EMCO

PUTRAJAYA is placing Kg Teluk in Sitiawan, Perak under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) after positive coronavirus cases were logged.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said after conducting risk assessments with various agencies, the MCO technical committee had agreed to implement the EMCO.

“As of yesterday, the Health Ministry has conducted 43 screenings, with 16 positive cases recorded.  

“The EMCO will start effective tomorrow up to February 24,” he said in a statement.

Ismail Sabri said the EMCO is to facilitate the Health Ministry in carrying out targeted screening involving 400 residents and to control infections in the community.  

The senior minister also said since yesterday, 589 individuals were arrested for violating the standard operating procedure.  

Out of that number, 543 were compounded, 42 individuals were remanded while another four were granted bail.

Among the SOP defaults included no physical distancing (184), crossing state and districts without permission (64), not wearing mask (130), premises operating overtime and without permission (36).

The others are entertainment centre activities (13), failure to provide equipment to record customers (56), leaving the house without reasonable cause (25), carrying excessive passengers (11), disobeying quarantine orders (7) and others (63). – February 10, 2021.
