Stop toying with us on Malaysia Agreement 1963, Najib told

NAJIB Razak should just restore Article 8 of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to prove his sincerity instead of setting conditions to the restoration of such rights, Jeffrey Kitingan said.

The Sabah Solidariti Tanah Airku president said the prime Minister should not engage in political polemics on this matter, comparing Najib with former prime minister and now opposition Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Najib is the incumbent prime minister and is in a position to put things right,” he was reported as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

Under Article 8 of MA63, the governments of the federation of Malaya, North Borneo and Sarawak will take such legislative, executive or other action as may be required to implement the assurances, undertakings, recommendations of the inter-governmental committee (IGC) report.

The Bingkor assemblyman said this in reference to Najib setting conditions in restoring the special rights of Sabah and Sarawak.

On December 23, Najib while in Kuching told Sarawak folk the conditions were that there should be no talks on secession and they must support Barisan Nasional (BN).

Kitingan, a well-known activist on the Malaysia Agreement 1963, said Najib should just restore their rights to prove his sincerity instead of laying out the terms and conditions.

“Sabahans and Sarawakians are tired of being used, abused, manipulated and exploited like a typical 19th century colony only to benefit Malaya at our expense,” he was quoted as saying. – December 28, 2017.
