SELANGOR Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali today relayed his frustration with the decision made by the PAS Syura Council in severing ties with PKR during a brief meeting with PAS exco members.

It is understood that the PAS representatives, comprising new PAS Selangor commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi and two exco members Dr Yunus Hairi and Zaidi Khalid, were summoned to the menteri besar’s office to explain the decision made by the Syura Council.

“I have listened to what they have to say because I need to hear from them personally.

“I am frustrated with the decision, as since 2008, we have done alot for Selangor with PAS,” he said.

He said that under the spirit of tahaluf siyasi with PAS, the state government has done a lot for Muslims in Selangor.

“With the ties we also managed to execute the people’s aspirations through the mandate given to us.

“That is why the decision made by PAS will affect the public’s high hopes for change in the country.

“Whatever it is, it’s a decision made by PAS not Keadilan,” he said.

He also said PAS has turned its back on the people and the country with its decision.

He added that the explanation given by the three excos this morning will be relayed to PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail before they decide on the next course of action.

Dr Wan Azizah is on her way back from the United States.

Whether the decision will affect the state government, Azmin said he has done his best to maintain PKR relations with PAS.

“Well, for me I have done all that is humanly possible and patience has a limit too.

“But let me look into their explanation first,” he said.

He added that PKR has worked hard to ensure the political consensus between the opposition parties was maintained for the sake of the people and the country.

Sallehen, who left Azmin’s office at 10.15am, told The Malaysian Insight that the meeting was not on PAS’ decision to cut ties with PKR.

“We did not discuss about it (divorce from PKR),” he said.

“But in the context of the state government, we are still working together as this is the people’s mandate.”

PAS formally ended cooperation with PKR yesterday, with the Islamist party’s powerful Syura Council deciding this was necessary to defend its Islamic agenda. – May 12, 2017.
