Cameron Highlands, Hulu Terengganu last peninsular green zones

ONLY two districts on the peninsula remain infection-free Covid-19 green zones, after a record-breaking number of infections was reported yesterday.

According to the Ministry of Health’s infographics, the two green zone districts as of January 16 are Hulu Terengganu and Cameron Highlands.

Meanwhile, 21 districts are in the yellow zone, 13 in orange zone and the remainder are red zones.

A green zone is an area with zero locally transmitted cases within the past 14 days, while a yellow zone is an area with one to 20 cases.

Orange zones are have reported 21 to 40 cases, while red zones have reported more than 41 cases.

The recent spike of Covid-19 cases recorded in Sarawak means three districts – Kuching, Miri and Sibu – are now red zones. 

As of yesterday, Sibu has recorded 474 local Covid-19 cases, Miri has 139 and Kuching 58.

One district in Sarawak is in the orange zone, 12 districts in the yellow zone and 16 are in the green zone.

In Sabah, there are no green zones but Tongod and Telupid are in the yellow zone.

Nabawan, Kuala Penyu and Belurun districts have registered more than 21 cases in the past 14 days, so they are in the orange zone, while the remainder are all listed as red zones.

Yesterday, Malaysia reported a record high 4,029 cases, taking the nation’s caseload to 155,095. – January 17, 2021.
