Recoveries outpace 972 new Covid-19 cases

A RECORD 1,345 recoveries from Covid-19 was reported today, topping the number of new infections in Malaysia.

New cases totalled 972 in the last 24 hours, and marked the second time since November 2 there have been more recoveries.

However, eight deaths were reported, bringing the toll of fatalities to 294.

Of the recoveries, Sabah topped the list with 967, followed by Selangor (235) and Negri Sembilan (63).

Sabah still contributed the highest number of new cases, with 370 infections, followed by Negri Sembilan (260) and Selangor (137). 

Of the eight deaths, seven were reported in Sabah and one in Labuan. 

The youngest victim was a one-year-old baby, who had a medical history of heart disease, Down syndrome and hypothyroidism. 

This would be the second time a child that age has died of Covid-19 in Malaysia, after the first case on October 6.

The other fatalities today were of those above 50. 

The number of active cases in the country now stands at 11,308, of which 86 patients are in intensive care, with 31 requiring breathing assistance. β€“ November 9, 2020.
