THE standard operating procedure (SOP) to combat Covid-19 is set to be fine-tuned by the National Security Council (NSC) at an upcoming special meeting, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that several suggestions have been brought to the NSC’s attention regarding the existing SOP, which will be reviewed and a decision could only be made at the special meeting.

The meeting is expected to be held this Saturday.

“There were calls for the SOP for the recovery movement-control order (RMCO) and conditional movement-control order (CMCO) to be tightened.

“However, there were also suggestions for it to be relaxed. So, there are various suggestions.

“This morning, the suggestions were tabled in the NSC’s technical meeting but no decision has been made because it has to be presented at the NSC’s special meeting.

“So, we will discuss this again at the NSC’s meeting because they are the ones who can make decisions as this involves policy matters, he said in his daily briefing on Covid-19 movement restrictions today.

Earlier, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said that the SOP for the CMCO needs to be re-evaluated for speedier and more effective intervention. – November 5, 2020.
