MALAYSIA once again breached the four-digit mark with a new record of 1,240 Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said Sabah again accounted for the bulk of infections, with the state recording 927 or 74.8% of today’s cases.
Sabah has now recorded the highest daily Covid-19 cases for 20 consecutive days, with the caseload in the state since the onset of the pandemic now standing at 12,745.
Out of the 927 cases, 439 cases were reported in the Kepayan Prison cluster. The Klang Valley in the peninsula, meanwhile, reported 194 cases (15.6%).
The nation’s tally now stands at 27,805.
Malaysia also reported seven deaths today, taking overall fatalities to 236.
All the deaths in the past 24 hours were reported in Sabah.
Out of the seven fatalities reported, five were men and two women.
The youngest victim was a 27-year-old, while the rest were above 50.
The nation reported 691 recoveries today, with 517 of them coming from Sabah.
Active cases now stand at 9,744.
Ninety-four of them are admitted in intensive care units, with 31 requiring respiratory assistance. – October 26, 2020.
