Go back to school and learn respect, Jamal tells Dr Mahathir, wife

UMNO leader Jamal Yunos today ticked off former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and former law minister, Zaid Ibrahim, asking them to “go back to school” to learn how to respect royals.

Jamal said Dr Mahathir and his wife’s act of returning awards to the Selangor palace was akin to children throwing a tantrum after being scolded by their elders, and was an act of disrespect to the sultan.

“After being told off a little by the sultan of Selangor, (they) are acting like children… throwing a tantrum and returning the awards.

“If there wasn’t a crisis, then returning these medals wouldn’t be an issue… but if there is a crisis and criticism which led to the return of these honorary awards means it’s a protest that they cannot accept and don’t respect the sultan. This is the interpretation,” he said

Jamal was speaking to reporters after lodging a police report against Dr Mahathir, Dr Siti Hasmah and Zaid, claiming that they had insulted the sultan of Selangor.

“They all need to go back to Standard 1, go back to school.

“I want to tell Tun M (Dr Mahathir), don’t try to be smart by talking big about Malaysia. Go back to Standard 1, learn the Rukun Negara.

“Same goes with Zaid, go back to Standard 1, learn the meaning of the Rukun Negara, follow and be loyal to the Rukun Negara, then you can be a leader,” he said outside the Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur today. 

Jamal said the three individuals needed to be reminded on how to uphold the Rukun Negara.

“I categorise Zaid Ibrahim, Tun M and his wife as individuals who are disrespectful and who do not uphold the Rukun Negara,” he said.

“They don’t understand, or maybe they have forgotten, because they are too old and have forgotten the meaning of the Rukun Negara. So, they have to go back to school.”

Dr Siti Hasmah and Dr Mahathir both returned two royal awards conferred to them when Dr Mahathir was serving as the prime minister.

They returned the awards two days after the sultan of Selangor criticised Dr Mahathir, who now heads the Pakatan Harapan pact, in an interview with a local daily recently.

Zaid tweeted a response to the sultan’s comments, earning him criticism from the palace as well as Jamal, who burned a cut-out of Zaid and threatened to smash his head in with a hammer if he did not apologise to the ruler.

Police detained Jamal for two days after Zaid, who said he feared for his safety, lodged a police report. – December 13, 2017.

  • The facts are very clear. TUN did not demand for the title ...the Sultan gave it voluntarily TUN gave it back voluntarily. What is thee problem with Jamal. WORKING HARD IN A CHEAP WAY FOR SEAT IN THE COMING ELECTION?.

  • People like Jamal are just no better than non-human mammals. They do not get it the world is changing that will make them extinct one way or other. They believe opportunity to abuse public power and space is magical and unlimited, not easily exhausted. Sooner or later, everyone will tire of them or the public resource is exhausted and no one will care.

  • Any awards worth its recognition is given based on the recipients status in life and society. These awards can be returned if the awardees feel they no longer wish to be recognised or ve assoc8ated with such status. There is no act of wrongdping in returning an award, less any disrespect. In fact where such return from an awardee is due to a different beliefs in its value, it should be view as a respect and honorable act in maintaining the distance quo.

  • The actual fact is Jamal is the one should be back in pre school as his act all this while whilst havin immunity fm previous govt proven the he didn't respect or understand the simple n basic intrepretation of RUKUN NEGARA thatbis the reason he act like hooligans. Now since the his immunity days s over he simply dissappeared from facing reality. If he understand the true meaning of RUKUN NEGERA he should respect by not absconding or running away n giving 1001 excuses. Tame dogs will only back behind withint their owners compound .
